I started out at Warthog Texas (also known as Fever Pitch Studios) as a Junior Artist. I worked my way up to Lead Artist after a few years thanks in part to the excellent leadership and guidence of my art director... and for being one of the few artists left after a series of hardships caused many to unfortunately lose their jobs. While I still feel like my experience at Feverpitch was some of my favorite times in this industry, we never did release a product while I was employed there. It was frustrating, but even though nothing we worked on came out, I loved what I was doing there and stayed at the company until it closed up shop in 2006. While at Feverpitch, I was involved in the development of many titles, including Shadow of the Ring, Johnny Whatever, and Hit & Myth.
It was while working at Feverpitch that I wrote my first Maya book The Game Artist's Guide to Maya. It was a very challenging experience, but one that I'm forever glad I did! About a year after completing the first book, I started my second, The Game Animator's Guide to Maya. I finished the 2nd book soon after Feverpitch shut down.
After losing my first job due to studio closure, I then made the move to Buzz Monkey Software and found a much more "studio" experience. It wasn't as close a group as the group at Feverpitch, but they were a well-oiled machine and very professional. It was here that I enjoyed the release of my first published game after 4 years in the industry! I eventually left to move closer to my soon-to-be wife. While at Buzz Monkey, I worked on NFL Street 3 and Tomb Raider: Anniversary.
When I made the move to the Seattle area, I joined up with a start-up studio called iWin Division 90. It was a casual games studio owned by the similarly named web hub iWin (similar to Big Fish Games or Popcap). I wasn't here long due to the studio being shut down, but we managed to release a casual tower-defense style game called Garden Defense.
I then started working at Zombie Studios, also in Seattle. While working for Zombie, we released both SAW and SAW II: Flesh and Blood. I was also involved with Blacklight: Tango Down and was the senior environment artist on Blackwater. And it was while working at Zombie that I wrote my third book, Maya Studio Projects: Game Environments and Props.
I currently work at Infinite Z, a new studio facing the challenge of creating content for a brand new medium!
I consider myself extremely fortunate to be in this fantastically creative industry, the job of my childhood dreams! I hope I get to continue for as long as I possibly can!
